Biomedical Waste Services, Inc. (BWS) is excited to unveil its 50th-anniversary logo. In 2025, BWS will celebrate five decades as a local, Baltimore-based, family-owned regulated waste management company. Recently, the company was honored by the Baltimore Business Journal in September, alongside 20 other businesses, as part of the 2024 Family-Owned Business Honorees. Additionally, BWS was awarded two citations from Governor Wes Moore’s Office recognizing their contributions to Maryland’s economic growth and progress for nearly 50 years. BWS has begun to roll out its anniversary logo and is eager about more exciting plans for the upcoming year.
The journey began in 1975 when President Ray Krell launched the company, initially focusing on office cleaning and property management services for medical professionals in Baltimore, Maryland. At that time, many local, state, and federal regulations concerning proper medical waste disposal had not yet been established. BWS played a crucial role in educating clients once these regulations were enacted and implemented best practices for compliance and safety. Over the years, BWS has expanded its services to include document shredding, OSHA compliance training, and hazardous waste disposal, all while remaining dedicated to safe and sustainable medical waste management to now over 10,000 clients across Maryland, D.C., Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
The 50th-anniversary logo has been designed to reflect BWS's longevity, commitment to safety and sustainability, and its leadership's vision of innovation for the company's future. You will soon notice this new logo featured prominently in BWS branding, including on their website and social media platforms. To celebrate this significant milestone in 2025, BWS plans to introduce limited-edition merchandise featuring the anniversary logo, exclusive promotions and sales for it's customers, community events, and employee appreciation initiatives.
“We are honored and humbled to celebrate 50 years in business next year,” expressed Trey Krell, Vice President of BWS. “My father founded this business to protect employees and customers from needlestick injuries. Our success is owed to the dedication of our team over the years and the loyalty of our customers, to whom we extend our heartfelt gratitude. We look forward to celebrating this achievement with our employees and clients.”
