Mobile shredding services are designed for on-site shredding. The process of on-site shredding allows for witnessed destruction of sensitive and confidential documents such as medical records, bank statements or financial records, employee files, and more. These documents and records are shredded curbside with the ability for you to watch the shredding happening through a monitor connected to a camera inside of the truck. Some trucks, like ours at BWS, are also equipped with a hard drive shredder for any decommissioned or retired computer hard drives ready for destruction.
The safest and most secure way to dispose of documents or hard drives containing confidential information is to have them shredded by a reliable, professional company that specializes in data destruction.
How Shredding Trucks Work
Mobile shredding trucks can shred materials anywhere at any time. They are ideal for large shredding jobs, record purges, and clean-out services when there’s a large volume of documents and records ready for compliant destruction past their retention time. If you require witnessed destruction, this is the best option to be able to watch the shredding happen in real time.
Whether your documents or records are already boxed up, in carts, or on storage shelves, the mobile shredding technician will safely and securely transport your sensitive paper to the truck. If your documents are in boxes or on storage shelves, they will be emptied into a cart. The truck is equipped with a grip cart lift system which lifts the cart to tip it into the hopper where the contents are shredded. At BWS, our state-of-the-art mobile shred trucks are equipped with cameras and monitors on board to watch the contents safely flow through the entire process. The monitor also allows our mobile shredding technician to closely watch the contents being unloaded, then shredded, and for our clients to watch the secure shredding process.
Meeting Safety and Security Shredding Standards
The rotary cutting action aboard our BWS mobile shred trucks uses “random crosscut/pierce and tear”, which meets almost all known NAID/i-SIGMA standards. As the contents of paper documents are loaded into the hopper, shred pieces of random lengths and sizes are produced. The irregularity and varying sizes of shred pieces ensure the safety and security that any confidential information is unrecognizable.
Reputable data destruction and shredding companies will have stringent chain of custody procedures that will provide their clients peace of mind knowing every step is taken to protect their sensitive documents or media. Once the shredding services have been completed, the data destruction company you partnered with will provide a Certificate of Destruction. This document is your proof showing safe and secure disposal following all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements ensuring the protection of customer and client personal data.
What Happens After Documents Have Been Shredded
Here at BWS, we are committed to the highest standards of environmental responsibility operating a zero-waste facility. Once your records are shredded or media is destroyed, the materials are sent onto our recycling partners for reuse and never to a landfill. We work with our customers early in the process to understand various waste streams and contents of their material for shredding. If there are materials such as x-rays, plastics, or other miscellaneous materials mixed in, it will contaminate the paper’s recyclability so it’s always best to identify these types of items from the onset. We will provide a disposal method for those various items.
